Rjukan Adventure and partners proudly present Rjukan Ice Kick-off, December 26 - 27. For over a decade, Rjukan has been the number one ice climbing area in Europe. To celebrate the start of this season, we invite you to a weekend of climbing and party in Rjukan, December 26 - 27.

Photo & media database

Rjukan Adventure's photo & media database is now online. It has taken some time to get this up and running (8 months to be exact) since I have developed it myself, but now it's working great. This database is primarily a tool for distributing high resolution photos to visitor, clients, partners and sponsors, and not so much another online photo gallery. This is why some of the galleries requires a login.

Rjukan Adventure

My main project for the last year, Rjukan Adventure, is up and running, with a full program of trips, courses and events. Main focus is on Mountain Bike, skiing and climbing and we have a wide selection of trips every day, for both individuals and groups. Rjukan Adventure is the first company in the valley to offer a full program of both summer and winter activities combined with services such as gear and bike rental.

Our office is located in center of town, right next to Intersport, where you can drop in if you want to book a trips or a course, need maintenance on your bike or climbing gear or if you just want info about mountain sports in the area.

Ice season almost here

Last night we had about 10 cm of snow and temps at around -4 C. Ice has started to freeze on most routes in the valley and in the gorge, like Juvsøyla, Trappfoss and Nye Vemorkfoss. It will need a few more nights with cold weather before it's possible to climb, but it is looking promising for an early start of the season here now.

Conditions at higher altitudes, on routes like Gaustatoppfossen, are good. It's possible to climb several lines at Gaustatoppfossen at the moment, with good ice.

Clinic - Leading Ice

I'm doing an early season clinic in December, aimed at climbers that wish to get introduced to the art of leading ice, or improve their leading skills. This clinic is perfect for climbers that have some basic ice climbing experience (ice or alpine), from a intro course or from climbing on their own. Topics are some of the most important aspects on ice climbing, like:

- Safety and awareness
- Placing gear on lead
- Climbing techniques for steep ice
- Mental preparations
- Multi-pitch climbing
